Penguatan Literasi Keamanan Obat melalui Edukasi Penyimpanan Obat yang Benar dan Beyond Use Date (BUD)

Abstract

Low health literacy regarding proper drug storage and Beyond Use Date (BUD) remains a common issue among students, potentially increasing the risk of unsafe medication use at the household level. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ knowledge of proper drug storage and the concept of BUD, with success indicators measured by changes in knowledge categories and pre-test to post-test distribution. A pre-experimental method with a one-group pre-test and post-test design was employed, using educational interventions in the form of lectures, interactive discussions, and simulations. The activity was conducted among 20 students at SMA Unggulan Haf-Sa Zainul Hasan BPPT Genggong, Probolinggo. The results showed an improvement in students’ knowledge, indicated by the elimination of the “fair” category (from 5% to 0%) and an increase in the “good” category (from 15% to 20%). In addition, students demonstrated increased awareness of proper drug storage practices.In conclusion, school-based education is effective in improving medication safety literacy and has the potential to promote safe and rational drug use behavior.
